Breanna Chin, BScI have never been the person that was interested in politics. I was true to my youth voting stereotype, in that I didn’t want to look up the issues and educate myself about the individual parties. When this CAP idea was brought up, I had no interest in it and was initially turned off with the prospect of having to look up the issues and advocate for something, I myself, do not participate in. I am fortunate enough to live in a country where I, as a young woman, can vote and have a say in what happens to the future of this country. After doing the research alongside my team and creating the YOVO site, I realize how imperative it is that I vote and voice my opinion on that ballot for what I believe.
This CAP began as something I was not passionate or excited about, however, it transformed into something much more than I could have imagined. I, along with the team, was able to create a resource for everyone and anyone to use. A resource that teachers can use in lessons to educate the youth approaching the age to vote, and the general public. This CAP can motivate and educate voters into voting on October 19, 2015. I believe our project can make a difference in this upcoming election and hopefully, we can increase the outcome of youth voters in this year’s upcoming election. |
